ELECTRONIC ACADEMIC STAFF SERVICE CARD
Pursuant to the regulations, a new model of an academic staff service card will be in force from 1 October 2020:
- Article 122 of the Act on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2020.85 as amended)
- Ordinance of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 13 March 2020 on the service card of an academic teacher (Journal of Laws 2020.689).
The new academic staff service card takes the form of a plastic processor card with an interface.
The card certifies employment as an academic teacher and, based on separate regulations*, entitlement to a 33% discount on travel:
- by public transport by rail in passenger trains, on the basis of one-off or monthly registered tickets;
- public transport by bus in regular communication, on the basis of monthly inscribed tickets.
* Act of 20 June 1992 on entitlement to reduced travel by means of public collective transport (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2018, item 295). Important! The provisions of the Act do not apply to urban transport.
Additional entitlements.
A ZTM key is encoded on the academic staff service card, allowing to save public transport tickets on it, including, among others, the “Warszawawiak Card”. The ELN can be activated as a UW library card and as an access card to rooms where sport activities conducted by the UW Sports and Recreation Centre take place.
IMPORTANT: As a result of the introduction of the ELN, the ELP (Electronic Service Card) will cease to be issued to academic staff.
Procedure for issuing service cards
Service cards shall be issued by organisational units of the University of Warsaw. A service The application shall be submitted electronically to an e-mail address designated by the organisational unit or in person at the organisational unit where the academic staff member performs their duties.
